Poll Question:
Are you alive?

Joe S.

Choices:

Yes
No
Most of the time
Only when juggling
I am in a Vanilla Sky dream like existence
Actually I am in a coma, I ruptured my juggler vein badly
Alive as the Pearl Jam hit single
Only when joggling to "Staying Alive" Bee Gees song
Yes, after a near death experience swimming at Cape Town, South Africa
Yes, unless Sondre shaves his beard, then I just might end it

Is there anybody out there that has watched the Vanilla Sky movie, been to South Africa, owned a Pearl Jam and Bee Gees album, and sported a beard once in your life?

It would be fun to see who is the closest to having all these facts true about them...

None of those fit me! I wouldn't have been caught dead with a Bee Gees album or any disco music. I have had beards for about half of my adult life, but I'm completely over them. I never "sported a beard" though and it wasn't just once.

I have all but a trip to South Africa. Pearl Jam was at one time my favorite group...interestingly just before the hurricanes of 04 an older couple moved in next to us they were having a house built, they had come from Seattle to work at the local hospital. During the on and off again 28 day power outage I supplied them electricity from our generator, they were unfamiliar with and needless to say unprepared for the aftermath of one hurricane let alone three in two months. Anyway as it turned out their daughter was marring a drummer from a band….Pearl Jam. Later the band came to Orlando to perform for a Rock the Vote event. The daughter got us tickets, backstage passes and my wife and I got to meet the band….the signed poster still hangs proudly in our house even though I rarely listen to their music anymore. We also met Susan Sarandon and her then husband Tim Robbins…..He was cool her not so much she seemed a bit cranky to me.

Well that was a little long winded but I had a little early time at work to kill.

Peace, Mike

Haha, that's funny Dave. I have watched Vanilla Sky (US version and Obre los ojos which is the Spanish original version), owned Pearl Jam's "Ten" album in middle school, and have had a beard off and on over the years. Used to have a full beard back in college days often.

I juggled to the song staying alive at my wedding reception with my Dad and brother, but never owned the album. Friend's been to South Afica plenty of times, but not me.

Wow, awesome story Mike. I remember the 04' hurricanes and the power outage and rebuilding. I did a 30 page research paper that was due that week the hurricane Ivan hit Pensacola, in the basement of my aunt's house in Birmingham, AL on a barstool with a clunky old computer. It was due and we were out of power for almost 3 weeks in Florida, so I had to get out of the heat and go finish a term paper!

That's really cool you had that opportunity to meet Pearl Jam. That's a rare and unique story. Never know who you're going to run into I guess.
